Bangalore Palace

The Bangalore Palace in the heart of the city is a unique edifice inspired by Windsor castle and built in the Tudor style in 1880 at the cost of Rs.1 million. A built-up area of around 45000 sq. ft this 110-year-old monument is a popular tourist attraction. Built by the Wodeyar King it is surrounded by a garden all around almost giving it a fairytale setting.

Tipu Sultan Summer palace

Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace is located in heart of Bangalore City. This Majestic structure is completely built in Teak Wood. It served as guest house for Tipu Sultan during summer. The structure was built more than 200 years ago. It is a popular Tourist spot located in Bangalore. Fee is applied to visit the Palace.
Tipu Sultan ( (November 1750 Devanahalli – 4 May 1799 Srirangapattana) also known as the Tiger of Mysore was the ruler of the Kingdom of Mysore. He was the son of a prominent Muslim named Hyder Ali by his second wife Fatima or Fakhr-un-nissa. His full name was Sultan Fateh Ali Khan Shahab or Tipu Saheb Tipu Sultan. In addition to his role as ruler he was a scholar soldier and poet. He was a devout Muslim but the majority of his subjects were Hindus. At the request of the French he built a church the first in Mysore. In alliance with the French in their struggle with the British both Tipu Sultan and Hyder Ali did not hesitate to use their French trained army against the Marathas Sira Malabar Coorg and Bednur. He was proficient in many ********s.[1] He helped his father Hyder Ali defeat the British in the Second Mysore War and negotiated the Treaty of Mangalore with them. However he was defeated in the Third Anglo-Mysore War and in the Fourth Anglo-Mysore War by the combined forces of the British East India Company the Nizam of Hyderabad and to a lesser extent Travancore and the Marathas. Tipu Sultan died defending his capital Srirangapattana on 4 May 1799.

Gumbaz Srirangapatna

Gumbaz is situated in Srirangapattana and is the mausoleum of Tiger of Mysore – Tipu Sultan his father Hyder Ali and his mother Fathima Begum. The Gumbaz stands out against the background of the beautiful green Lalbagh Gardens.
The Gumbaz was built by Tipu Sultan around 1782-1784. It is built on a raised platform and has open balcony supported by black basalt pillars. The tomb door are intricately carved and engraved with ivory. The tomb itself is imposing and large.

jumma masjid srirangapatna

Tipu Sultan built Masjid-e-Ala aka Jumma Masjid (some people write it as Jama Masjid too) in the year of 1784 AD once he came to the throne of Mysore. It is said that he performed his first Imamath here (Imamath = some religious course in Islam). The masjid (mosque) has an open court and a covered verandah. The highlight of the masjid is two lofty minarets which stand on a high platform. The minarets are very attractive and can be watchable even from long distance. The octagonal shaped minarets are two stories surmounted by domes. There are around 200 steps which would take you to the top of minarets from where you can get a bird view of Srirangapatna.

lalitha mahal palace


The Lalitha Mahal is the second largest palace in Mysore. It is located near the Chamundi Hills east of the city of Mysore in the Indian state of Karnataka. The palace was built in 1921 at the orders of Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV the Maharaja of Mysore for the exclusive stay of the then Viceroy of India.Built on a raising ground the palace was fashioned on the lines of the St. Paul’s Cathedral in London and is one of the imposing structures of the Mysore city.
The palace painted in pure white colour is strikingly elegant. It was converted into a heritage hotel in 1974. It is now run as an elite hotel of the Ashok Group of the India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) under the Government of India. However a veneer of the original royal ambience of the palace is maintained

Maharaja place Mysore

The Palace of Mysore is a palace situated in the city of Mysore in southern India. It is the official residence of the Wodeyars - the erstwhile royal family of Mysore and also houses two durbar halls (ceremonial meeting hall of the royal court).
Mysore has a number of historic palaces and is commonly described as the City of Palaces. However the term "Mysore Palace" specifically refers to one within the old fort. The palace was commissioned in 1897 and its construction was completed in 1912. It is now one of the most famous tourist attractions in Mysore. Although tourists are allowed to visit the palace they are not allowed to take photographs inside the palace.

St. Philomena's church


St. Philomena's church is a church built in the honour of St. Philomena in the Diocese of Mysore India. It was constructed in 1936 using a Neo Gothic style and its architecture was inspired by the Cologne Cathedral in Germany.
